             THE LAYOUT, ITEMS, AND OUR PANTRY!

          Last weekend during the first, maybe second, snow of the season you  could find Jay, Carol and the Towners moving furniture!  The People’s Market has a new look.  The People's Pantry is official, and has a location of it’s own.  We are pretty excited.  We’ve got Berry Farms Sunflower Oil, PS salsa, Jams and Jellies from Gleb Farm.  You’ll find eggs again, and Cheese.  Fingerlakes Granola, Sugarbush Maple Syrup, and Pembroke Honey grace the shelves.  We continue to stock Dog Treats, and Verve, a healthy alternative to the energy drink market.

Yes men out there...buy your LOVE a dishcloth for Valentine's...but wrap a little something from the People's Market of Lansing inside it!! Yes that is what women really want...a little surprise and to know you thought of something special for them! Won't she be surprised when she sees the "dishcloth" you got her! When she unfolds it... a beautiful bracelet, necklace or earrings will fall out and you will fall back into her graces...and maybe her arms?? Whose Got the Cheese?

We do… the cooler isn’t brimming yet with cheeses, but we have a few samplings, and are placing an order for more Cheese.  From Finger Lakes Dexter Creamery we have Kefir Cheese, From Finger Lakes farmstead Cheese we have Gouda, and from Lively Run we have Chevre Goats Milk.  I think we had some cheddar and Swiss… who took the cheese?  Come often as the supply changes weekly!  And what goes great with cheese?  You got it a burger!  We have organic beef from Berry Farms!  Top it off with some salsa from PS, and dinner is waiting!

     Patty Schenk in new to Lansing, but not new to Salsa.  Relocating in Lansing from the Buffalo area, Patty has been making salsa for years, and made Buffalonians crying for more.  We feel pretty fortunate to have Patty and her salsa at the market!  Our Pantry is growing!

    Wrap your feet in warmth this winter.   We have close to 15 different  styles of Dahlgern socks… they are a  blend of alpaca, wool, and a bit of nylon… and easy to care for!  If socks aren’t your thing, consider a pair of boot liners.  You may have seen these at the Ithaca farmers market.  We have 100% alpaca boot liners to keep your toes toasty… And let’s not forget our fingers and ears!  We’ve got hats, mittens, ear warmers, fingerless gloves and scarves…We are open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 to 6:00 and by chance on Sunday’s and Mondays!

The People's Market has "wristlets", The wristlets are hand knit by a 97 year old vendor of ours...we supply the alpaca yarn and she knits them!       Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching…consider a gift from the peoples market… we’ve got jewelry, socks, wool and alpaca hand knit items.  There are soaps, lotions and “potions”!  Pottery, wood, and fiber… and introducing the people’s pantry!  Complete with organic beef, local eggs, honey, maple syrup, Finger Lakes granola, jams and jellies and soon we will have locally made cheese. Busy as a Bee!

       Avital’s apiary has been busy, busy as a bee I might add!  Leslie has restocked her soaps,  lotions and potions.  

          Introducing By Request.. A scentless soap made from honey and oatmeal, and…an amazing new blend called:  Kitchen Hand,  a new blend of  coffee/orange/calendula.. It elilminates those kitchen ordors on your  hands. 

She has also brought in lip balm in a chai spice (my favorite), rosemary mint, peppermint ice, and orange crème.

We've added a fridge to bring more local foods and items to our customers!    We've got cheese coming, valentine cheesecakes for two...and that's just the beginning. We still have Fingerlakes granola, honey, sunflower oil, jams and jellies, maple syrup and organic beef and don't forget the eggs!  The chickens are laying!

big Thank You...to the community!

"The People" of The People's Market would like to thank those who remembered to shop local. We had a wonderful two days of sales and are very excited for our vendors! We initially thought we would be low on inventory after Black Friday weekend...but after a couple of great days of sales we still have LOTS of inventory!
It was exciting to see may people from the community stop in to shop and for some... see The People's Market for the first time. We had lots of positive feedback and people are just amazed at what they find when they walk through the doors of The People's Market. There is a lot of really great local talent and we are lucky to have them as vendors...after all it is people creating items for the people, but also people helping people... that is a big component of shopping local. Keeping our money in the area helps our community and strengthens us. Lets stay strong together in these tight financial times. Thank you again!

A big Welcome to Schoolyard Sugarbush Maple Syrup!

Schoolyard Sugarbush will be supplying the store with beautiful decorative bottles which will be great for gifts for the holiday season. They will be offering syrup in your typical plastic maple bottles (in sizes 32 0z., 16 oz and 100 ml/3.4 oz...which can pass the flying cut-off he is told!). They aslo have decorative glass bottles , maple cream and maple candy...you name it and they do it in "Maple"!  Don and his family run the business themselves and will supply any special orders you may have. Just talk to us here at The People's Market and we will arrange it for you within a 1-2 week window of time.

The Chicken is here...

Tom Quinn notified us this morning that he will be here to sell his chicken at The People's Market this afternoon. He will be here from 4:30-6:30 and will be selling the last of this season's "chicken inventory". For circumstances beyond our control we are unable to sell Tom Quinn's Irish Hill chickens through The People's Market. Thank you to our loyal customers!

Welcome Schoolyard SugarBush Maple syrup from Moravia!

The People's Market is now carrying products from Schoolyard SugarBush...they will have several different sizes of decorative Maple Syrup bottles that are great for the holidays... as well as Pure Maple Cream,  jugs of Maple Syrup, and Maple Candy.  

Don Weeds (Dad) stopped is to drop off the items and we had a nice visit and talked of running a business in "the family". (They also own and run New Hope Mills Pancakes). We were encouraged when we met him that they too run a business with primarily their family members (and in our case vendors and family members) running it. It is hard at times but very rewarding! He told us funny stories of family members "hiding" the Maple Cream in the fridge so the other family members couldn't find it! I nicely asked him to get a little more out of the truck because I was going to buy one of them myself!
We are glad they will be offering their items here at The People's Market of Lansing. To learn more about Schoolyard Sugarbush go to their website at www.schoolyardsugarbush.org . Don said they would be able to offer and honor "special orders" through The People's Market should a customer want a special item in a specific bottle (light, med or dark maple Syrup) etc...They would just need 1-2 weeks notice. Early Morning Farm to make People's Market a CSA drop off!

We are excited to be involved with Early Morning Farm and can't wait to be your drop off point for your CSA fruits and vegetables. The People's Market will have a time and day (Thursdays from 2-6?) and will be there for you when you need your veggies! Call The People's Market to register or call the farm. Tom Quinn's Irish Hill to sell his chickens from the Market

Tom Quinn will be setting up a time to work at the Market and sell his chickens. He is planning a final processing for the season this coming week. Watch for the pick up date and stock up your freezer for winter!Call The People's Market to get on the list for the delivery! 533-1012
